High Altitude LLC was founded in 2021 by Ben Sexton — a U.S. veteran with 25+ years of software development across enterprise integration, full-stack web, Azure, and Dynamics 365. HAL began as a contracting practice and has since grown into a holding company whose primary focus is forming and operating subsidiary LLCs built around niche software ideas, with joint-venture partners who own the majority of what they build.

The shift to the holding company model is paired with a shift in how we build. Every subsidiary we stand up uses AI-driven design, development, and deployment — and ships products that incorporate AI where it creates real leverage for the user. Classical engineering fundamentals still govern what’s correct and what’s safe; AI is the force multiplier that lets a small team take a niche idea from concept to shipped product in a fraction of the usual time and cost.

We operate on six principles that shape every document, agreement, and interaction: mission over money; radical transparency; idea protection from first contact; bilateral legal protection; sustainability as the goal; generous by design. A smaller stake in something thriving is better than a larger stake in something that limps.
